Streaming - it’s the go to method of listening to a song. Long gone are the days of buying a physical copy of your favourite artist’s album, because music is right at our fingertips in 2020. Spotify and Apple Music are two of the biggest streaming platforms in the world, boasting millions of active users between them.
Both apps offer a paid subscription service, allowing users to access music without mobile data or WiFi and download all their favourite tunes. But which subscription offers the best benefits and value for money? Let’s take a look!
Spotify’s paid option, Spotify Premium, is £9.99 a month or £4.99 a month for students. They also offer a one month free trial, perfect for music fans who want to try the app out before committing to monthly payments. Premium offers ad-free music with unlimited skips as well as “Daily Mixes” - playlists curated for you based on frequently played songs, and songs Spotify thinks you’ll like. You can also stream music from not only your phone, but your computer and TV too!
Apple Music doesn’t offer a free option, but their prices are also £9.99 a month or £4.99 a month for students. Students can get a 3 month free trial, compared to Spotify’s 1 month, in case you need longer to decide whether the app is for you. Apple Music’s catalogue includes 70 million songs, with your personal library being able to hold 100,000 songs. One of their best features, however, is being able to search lyrics to find a song. You can also read lyrics while you listen!
While both services have their benefits, Spotify is my personal winner due to its advanced algorithms, creating personalised playlists just for you! Being able to stream these playlists from all devices tops it all off too, meaning you can listen absolutely anywhere.
My current favourite Albums on Spotify:
What streaming service do you prefer?
spotify 100000%!!!
I have Spotify and I really like it but I think all the exclusives only Apple Music customers get are second to none
Spotify definitely wins it for me! My 2020 wrap up was extremely accurate!
