TV broadcaster Piers Morgan has received both backlash and support towards a meme he recently tweeted that appeared to be critical of Meghan Markle.

The meme, featuring Meghan Markle, tweeted by Piers
The meme shows an image of Markle smirking with text reading “So Bill Gates just got divorced”, seemingly suggesting that Markle is a gold-digger. Piers captioned the image with laughing emojis and was met with a range of reactions from his followers.
The tweet follows Morgan’s departure from Good Morning Britain on 9 March after 57,000 Ofcom complaints were made towards him for disbelieving Meghan’s revelation that she “didn’t want to be alive anymore” during an interview with TV personality Oprah Winfrey.
Receiving eleven thousand likes and two thousand retweets, Piers was quickly met with support for the meme and disapproval of yet another attack on the Duchess of Sussex. Many argued that he appears to be “obsessed” with her, while others expressed their own opinions about the Duchess in the replies.
One user responded to Piers with “....gosh! Your obsession with this woman is borderline crazy!.....I wonder what your wife thinks about it! Jeez, let her be, would you.”. The user, @realshiqo, acquired two thousand likes and fifty retweets on his reply.

Others responded in agreement with Morgan, with @Amitttty tweeting “She is going to sue u for this. The woke lady is out there to get anyone who dares to say something negative about her”, referring to Markle’s recent copyright claim against the Mail on Sunday for publishing a letter she wrote to her father, of whom she is estranged.

The former Good Morning Britain presenter recently accused Meghan of ‘exploiting’ her royal title in an article for The Daily Mail. The article came after the Duchess announced her upcoming children's book, The Bench, which is about father and child relationships. The book is inspired by the relationship between her husband, Prince Harry, and their son Archie.
