The last time 5 Seconds of Summer took to the stage in London was nearly four years ago. “Have you missed us?”, asked lead singer Luke Hemmings to a ten-thousand strong crowd at Wembley Arena for their Take My Hand World Tour. Fans scream in response, with their answer being pretty clear - of course they have!

The show kicked off with their 2020 single “No Shame”, with the band hidden behind a cage-like screen for the first couple of songs, before revealing themselves and the stunning visuals behind them.

The crowd knows how to match the band’s energy - screaming and dancing along to older hits like “Disconnected” (which 5SOS haven’t played live since 2016!) and shining their flashlights along to slower songs like “Amnesia”, simply admiring the raw beauty of the song.

The group surprised eager fans with a rendition of a new, unreleased song, entitled “Easy For You To Say” - “not knowing the song isn’t an excuse not to dance”, exclaimed Hemmings, and the crowd willingly followed his lead.

With four albums and a couple of EPs under their belt, it’s hard to squeeze in all the fan favourites. However, the 25-song setlist, though some songs were shortened, provided a beautiful mix of old and new hits, with the majority coming from their 2020 album, CALM.

The crowd-pleaser was certainly “She Looks So Perfect”, arguably their most popular song to date. Drummer Ashton Irwin gave everything he had to this song while fans danced under the flashing lights, soaking up the long-awaited moment after two cancelled tours due to COVID-19.

5SOS finished the set with “Youngblood” - and what a closer it was! As sad as it was for the show to be ending, it was hard not to sing along to the 2018 hit. Colourful visuals danced around the arena screens, and it was the perfect ending to a high-energy show. The band bowed and waved as they left the stage, only leaving the crowd wanting more - hopefully, it won’t be too long until they’re back…
